Picture in Time: Stagecoach Supertram 119

We are back to South Yorkshire for today’s edition of Picture in Time as we take a look at the by then Stagecoach Supertram system in 2003 with tram 119 the main focus of our attention.

This is Sheffield City Centre on the approach to the Ponds Forge/Fitzalan Square stop with 119 the tram in the centre of the shot with a Yellow route service to Meadowhall which would have originated at Middlewood. 119 is one of the 25 trams built for the opening of the South Yorkshire Supertram system by Siemens Duewag of Germany with the class arriving at regular intervals in time for the first of the lines to open in March 1994. At the time of this photo 119 is carrying the second Stagecoach Supertram livery with the dark blue lower band added. Today 119 remains in service but can be seen in the newer Supertram dark blue livery.
