Picture in Time: Stagecoach Supertram in the snow

We have some wintry images for you in this edition of Picture in Time as we head to South Yorkshire and take a look at the Stagecoach Supertram system after the snow had fallen on 1st December 2010.

In these images we are at Hillsborough Corner and both photos show just how heavy the snow has already come down and with it continuing to snow it looks as if conditions are only going to get a lot worse! Despite the fact that there is a lot of snow on the ground the trams are continuing to run with passengers awaiting their arrival to continue their journeys into work.

In this first photo we see 105 calling at Hillsborough stop with a Yellow route service. How deep the snow is can be easily seen by the man crossing the tracks whose feet seem to have disappeared!

The second image again shows 105 at the stop although there now appears to be a delay with the conductor of the tram standing in front of the vehicle peering down the line towards Middlewood. Another tram has now approached from behind, with this one running on the Blue route.
