Final NET Citadis receives a name

All 37 trams on Nottingham Express Transit now proudly carry names following the application of the name Dame Laura Knight to 216 in a special ceremony. Dame Laura was an acclaimed local artist and her childhood home now overlooks a tram stop.

Dame Laura had a career spanning over 70 years and was the most famous female artist of her time in Britain. She was the first artist to be made a Dame and the first woman to be elected to the Royal Academy.

216 was previously named Julie Poulter after the first winner of the Nurse of the Year competition but since the winner of this contest was transferred to 220 the tram has remained unnamed. But now with its new name 216 will join its 21 Citadis sisters in being named alongside the 15 Incentro trams.

In other news from Nottingham Incentro 207 has now received the standard Silver, Dark Green and Black fleet livery following the removal of advertising vinyls. This replaces the temporary purple and white livery that the tram had been seen in for a number of weeks.
