In Pictures: Tramlink Stadler update

Progress has been continuing with the introduction of the second batch of London Tramlink Stadler Variobahn trams with all but 2563 now in service whilst 2562 has had the special vinyl wrap added to one end in the same style as 2560.

The second batch of Stadler built trams arrived over a seven month period in 2015 – 2560 arriving in May and 2563 in December – and have gradually been introduced into service over the latter part of the year and early part of 2016 with the exception of 2563. This tram has now started daylight testing ahead of its own entry into service.

The other change to this batch of trams is the livery of 2562 which is now carrying the unwrapping vinyl wrap livery on one end as per that added to 2560 for the launch of the new platform arrangement at Wimbledon in November 2015.

2563 passes Therapia Lane on a daylight test run on 11th March 2016.

2562 sits at Beckenham Junction on 14th March 2016 showing off its new vinyl wrap. (Both Photographs by Ian Buck)

I love that new livery on 2562

Much as I like the current livery I think the red was smarter and more London identifiable. Though I dont think the new cars ever carried it.

2563 is now in service – on the Wimbledon section of the 3 today.
