Three charged over St Werburgh’s incident in July 2015

Three people have been charged over the incident on 3rd July 2015 which saw a tram severely damaged and caused a derailment at St Werburgh’s Road. The awful incident took place at around 2330 when a group of men were involved in a scuffle with another passenger on the platform. The problem then escalated when the group of men walked along the side of the tramway throwing stones through the windows. The three men charged – a 21 year old man and two 17 year old boys – will appear in Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday 1st March charged with violent disorder and criminal damage over £5,000.

    Good to see that the police have managed to find these three males. Hopefully the court will not give a slap on the wrist but impose a appropriate punishment.
