Seaton hit by the weather

The unseasonable heavy rain which has been afflicting much of the UK in this so-called summer in 2012 claimed another victim last weekend  when flooding meant the Seaton
Tramway were unable to operate a full service.

Seaton’s problems started on Saturday 7th July when the heavy rain flooded a section of the track between Colyford and Colyton, causing some ballast to be washed away. This meant that from the start of service on that day a limited service only could be offered to passengers from Seaton terminus to Colyford.

The repairs to the section of track which had lost the ballast continued for the next few days with the limited service in operation until the end of Tuesday 10th July. From the following day the normal service was back in operation showing the dedication of the team at Seaton to repair the afflicted section in such a short time frame.
