DLR changes for the Olympics confirmed

With the London 2012 Olympic Games fast approaching the Docklands Light Railway have announced that there will be a number of station closures and alterations for the duration of both that event and the following Paralympic Games.

The first of the station closures has already taken place with Pudding Mill Lane – the first station out of Stratford on the original route – closed until Wednesday 12th September. This station is directly opposite the Olympic Park and so has presumably been closed for
security reasons.

From Saturday 28th July a number of stations will become “venue” stations for several locations holding events. This means that some stations will become exit only and others will be entrance only. These changes are as follows:

Custom House/Prince Regent:

These two stations will be venue station for ExCeL. Custom House will be used as exit only with Prince Regent as entrance only. These changes will be in place until Sunday 12th August.

Pontoon Dock/West Silvertown:

These two stations will also be venue stations for ExCeL. West Silvertown will be exit only with Pontoon Dock entrance only. These changes will be in place until Sunday 12th August.

Cutty Sark:

This station will generally be closed between 0700 and 2000 when any event is taking place in Greenwich Park. Potential passengers are advised to check before travel when these events are actually taking place.

As well as these station changes a revised timetable is due to be in operation from now until Sunday 9th September. It will depend on the day and which events are taking place as to what timetable will be in operation at various times and there isn’t enough time and space on this website to list all the changes. A special page on the DLR website – http://www.dlrlondon.co.uk/londongamesCalendar.aspx – has been created which can be checked before travelling to find out the service frequencies. Regular travellers are warned their normal journeys may not be possible at certain times so do please check at all times.
