More Purple route changes on Stagecoach Supertram

With the continued tram shortages being experienced on Stagecoach Supertram (thanks in no small part to the collision at Shalesmoor in October) a further change to the Purple route timetable has been revealed; this time, though, it is more drastic with weekday services being severely curtailed.

From Monday 7th December the first trams of each weekday (0535 from Sheffield Station to Herdings Park and 0555 return to Cathedral) will run as normal but then the service is replaced by buses (running at a 20 minute frequency instead of the usual 30 minute tram frequency) until trams return with the 1937 from Cathedral and 2002 return. A normal service will then continue until the end of service.

On Saturdays trams will run between Herdings Park and Cathedral throughout the day with the usual departure times from Herdings Park but with revised departures from Cathedral at 23 and 53 minutes past the hour.

If you are planning on travelling on the Purple route on Sundays the good news is that there are no chances so the standard 20 minute frequency will be in operation.

Stagecoach Supertram are currently unable to offer a date of when normal services will resume with repairs to 118 and 120 continuing which will eventually see a hybrid unit formed.
