Supertram to amend fares during next stage of rail replacement works

Stagecoach Supertram have announced that they will either be freezing or reducing ticket prices when the next stage of rail replacement works start on the network. Single tickets are to remain at the same price whilst there is a reduction in the price of Tram and Bus Dayrider tickets with a new Tram only Megarider weekly ticket also being introduced.

Short distance single tickets have not risen since 2011 with longer distance versions last seeing an increase in 2012 and it has been decided that with the forthcoming disruption to passengers – with the first phase of works in 2015 due to commence on 28th March – the fares will once again remain the same.

In addition to this price freeze the Sheffield Tram and Bus Dayrider is to be reduced by 10p to £3.90. This ticket allows unlimited travel on any Stagecoach bus and tram within the Sheffield megarider zone. The seven day version of this ticket will also see a price freeze.

A new Tram only weekly Megarider is also being introduced for the duration of the work. This will cost £12.50 (£1.79 per day) and will allow passengers unlimited travel on board any tram or bus replacement service.

All these price changes will take effect from Saturday 28th March when the next stage of rail replacement work starts in the Hillsborough, City Centre, City Road and Hollinsend/Gleadless Townend areas.
