NET Citadis to be named Carl Froch

It has been confirmed that a second Nottingham Express Transit Citadis tram is to receive a name. An unknown vehicle will be named “Carl Froch” in a special ceremony at The Forest on Thursday 16th October at 1615 after which 12 competition winners will be able to join the boxing world champion for a trip into the city centre where he will awarded the title of Freeman of the City.

It is planned that all 22 of the Citadis trams will be named and 216 has already received the name Julie Poulter, who won the Nurse of the Year award earlier in 2014. No further details have been confirmed of who the remaining 20 trams will be named after.

Carl Froch is the IBF and WBA World Super-Middleweight title-holder, originally comes from Colwick in Nottingham and still trains at Carlton.

A competition is being held for members of the public who wish to join Carl for this very special day with full details on this available at http://www.thetram.net/carl-froch-comp. There are five parts of the prize which will include the chance to travel on the tram between The Forest and Royal Centre and also to attend the Freeman of the City event in the Royal Concert Hall.
