New timetable for Midland Metro from 3rd January 2012

A revised timetable is to be introduced on Midland Metro from Tuesday 3rd January 2012 which, it is hoped, will help to provide extra capacity at peak periods with the introduction of a new service from Wednesbury Parkway to Birmingham Snow Hill and return during the morning peak.

This new service has been running on a trial basis since September this year and has proved to be a success and so it is to be made a permanent journey. The tram departs Wednesbury Parkway at 0808 on Mondays to Friday arriving at Birmingham Snow Hill at 0830. It then returns from Snow Hill at 0835 before terminating at Wednesbury Parkway at 0857.

In the evening peak the 1802 and 1921 departures from Wolverhampton St Georges now will only run as far as Wednesbury Parkway rather than running through to Snow Hill and the 1842 Snow Hill-St Georges tram will also be withdrawn.

A number of other minor changes – with the purpose of smoothing out the service frequency – are also being made to departure times during the morning and evening peaks on weekdays. No changes are being made to the weekend timetable.

* Full details of the new timetable will be released at http://www.midlandmetro.co.uk
shortly.
