In Pictures: NET Citadis’ enter service

Sunday 27th July saw the first use of Nottingham Express Transit’s new Citadis trams on the first day of trialling the new higher frequency timetable. Six of the Alstom built trams were used in service on this day with 218 the first to carry passengers and being joined initially by 216, 217 and 221 and then later in the day by 219 and 220.

216 – which has become the first of the class to be named, carrying name stickers for Julie Poulter the award winning nurse as reported last week – had to return to depot during the morning with a door fault but this was quickly repaired and it returned to service soon after. 217 also returned to depot during the day and this did not reappear in service although by the evening 219 and 220 had joined in the fun.
