In Pictures: Midland Metro Birmingham City Centre extension

Progress is continuing on the Birmingham City Centre extension of Midland Metro which is due to open during 2015. The extension will leave the current Metro line just before Snow Hill railway station before travelling on a new viaduct and then down to street level. The line will travel along Upper Bull Street, Corporation Street before terminating at Stephenson Street outside New Street station. Recent photos of the current state of affairs on this extension are shown below courtesy of Ken Jones.

Preparations continue on Corporation Street.

  1. Mike Ballinger says:

Whilst passenger services will terminate outside New Street Station there should be a stabling siding and run round meaning the actual track will finish outside the Ian Allan bookshop. How long this will last for depends on the time taken to build the extension to Centenary Square.
