Manchester Metrolink services will not run between Piccadilly Station and Ashton-under-Lyne on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March as there are gas works taking place alongside the tramway. All trams from Eccles will terminate at Piccadilly running via MediaCityUK with replacement buses in place from Piccadilly to Ashton. In addition on Sunday 30th March trams will be suspended between Timperley and Altrincham before 0900.
Trams will run as follows on Saturday 29th March:
Altrincham-Bury
Altrincham-Piccadilly
Bury-Abraham Moss
East Didsbury-Rochdale Railway Station
Eccles-Piccadilly Station via MediaCityUK
Trams will run as follows on Sunday 30th March:
Timperley-Bury (before 0900)
Altrincham-Bury (after 0900)
East Didsbury-Rochdale Railway Station
Eccles-Piccadilly via MediaCityUK
Replacement buses will be provided on all closed sections with Metrolink tickets valid on these services.
On one map there is a direct line from Bury to Ashton under Lyme.
However, now it’s all bus replacements.
Is there actually a direct tram between Bury and Ashton?
I cannot find any coherent information!
There is and it was used as a route prior to the improvement work at Victoria reducing a section to single track, thus reducing capacity through the station.
Currently the Ashton trams run to Eccles instead of Bury. As Colin says below the work at Victoria has resulted in the former Bury to Piccadilly and Ashton service being truncated. It currently only operates between Bury and Abraham Moss and as I say the Ashton and Eccles services have been linked. The closure of the Ashton Line was for the weekend of 29th and 30th of March to allow gas main repairs in Droylsden.
