“Numbers” reaching 8.

And its Blackpool that is featured in this latest image as we take a look at a tram which is owned by the Fylde Transport Trust – OMO 8. One of 13 trams which were rebuilt from English Electric Railcoaches in the 1970s, 8 was once Railcoach 612 (265) and entered service as an OMO in June 1974. It would remain in service until May 1992 and then in 2005 would be preserved by the (then) Lancastrian Transport Trust. It was hoped that it would be restored to operational condition in time for the 2010 125th anniversary celebrations but that wasn’t quite possible – although it was able to move under its own power to take a part in the Cavalcade albeit minus passengers. It would run some tours later in the year though, although hasn’t been used since. It remains stored at Rigby Road Depot. We see the plum and custard liveried tram on anniversary day 29th September 2010. (Photograph by Gareth Prior, 29th September 2010)
