In this edition of “Picture in Time” we take our look at some of the original Midland Metro T69s in action on the line between Birmingham Snow Hill and Wolverhampton St George’s.
This photo was taken at Soho Benson Road on 5th June 2008 and shows T69 03 at the platform when working a service from Wolverhampton St George’s to Birmingham Snow Hill. The tram is in, as it always was in its operating career, the original multi coloured fleet livery and it also has a couple of external above window adverts in position. Note also that the original livery featured a simple map of the line too.
03 would be withdrawn from service in December 2013 before departing Wednesbury Depot on 11th March 2016. Like so many others it would remain at Long Marston before being sold by e-auction in early 2018 for scrap, which happened by the middle of the year.
