In Pictures: West Midlands Metro 51 and 57 back to fleet livery

West Midlands Metro pair 51 and 57 are running again without any advertising vinyls following the removal of their identical adverts for the Wicked For Good movie – so it wasn’t an advert which was “for good” after all!

Both trams received these adverts in October 2025, ahead of the global release of the second film in the Wicked movie series, which followed on from the dramatic events of the first film when the wicked witch set flight (but as in all things we are, of course, asked whether she is truly wicked or just misunderstood!).

But with the film having been released in the latter part of November, the advertising contract came to an end in early December leading to the vinyls being taken off the trams again.

It leaves just 52 in an advert now on the tramway, this tram advertises the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

And 51 is also back in fleet livery as we see in this picture of the tram calling at Wednesbury Great Western Street on the way to Birmingham and Edgbaston Village. (Photograph by Shiv Patel, 19th December 2025)
