The Light Rail Safety and Standards Board (LRSSB) have named Don McClurg as the new Chair of the Heads of Safety group. Don is the Head of Safety and Standards at Edinburgh Trams and replaces Andy Wallace, who has stepped down from the role following his move from Tram Operations Limited.
Don is a former Combat Medical Technician in the army and has been at Edinburgh Trams since 2013. He started off as a duty manager and has also been assistant safety manager and safety manager. He was previously Vice-Chairman of the Heads of Safety group.
Don said: “The Heads of Safety Group plays an important role in shaping the work of the LRSSB, helping the organisation to deliver on its objectives and supporting safety professionals across the light rail industry.
“I’m delighted that colleagues from across the sector have entrusted me with building on the excellent work of my predecessor and, on behalf of the group, I would like to wish Andy all the very best for the future.”
At the same meeting Paul Cooper, Head of Health, Safety and Operational Standards at KeolisAmey Metrolink was appointed Vice Chair of the group.
