In Pictures: Work continues on stop construction in Dudley

Autumn 2025 remains the planned opening date for the first phase of the West Midlands Metro Black Country line extension as far as Flood Street in Dudley and whilst testing has yet to get underway in anticipation of this construction work has been ongoing at various points of the line. This has include the laying of tracks, installation of overhead, and also the construction of the planned nine new stops.

One of these nine stops will be provided at Dudley Interchange which is where a new bus station will be provided as well as a tramstop. This will be the penultimate stop on phase one with just the section to Flood Street beyond this. Work has been progressing on the construction of the stop – which was one of those which was further behind than most others as it relied on other work to be completed first – with platforms and shelters now in place.

Looking through the fencing towards the stop we see recent progress. Track is also fully laid here. (Photograph by Mark Cufflin, 20th September 2025)
