Tyne and Wear Metro sees another three new trains arrive

Its been all change once again on the Tyne and Wear Metro this week as following on from new trains entering service and old trains being scrapped, they have now welcomed three more new trains to northeast following their transportation from Switzerland.

This is the second delivery in a row which has seen three rather than two trains arrive in the same batch. All three come from mainland Europe in the same train but their arrival on the Tyne and Wear Metro is staggered with two arriving one night and then the third the following night.

The three which arrived as part of this batch are 555 036, 555 040 and 555 041. Its thought 555 040 and 555 041 were first to arrive in the early hours of Friday 5th September and then 555 036 followed the next day.

The brings the total number of Stadler built trains to have arrived in the northeast to 32: 555 001555 021, 555 027, 555 028, 555 031, 555 032, 555 035, 555 035, 555 038555 041. Of these 17 have now carried passengers, with the plan being that around 23 will have entered service by the end of 2025.
