We continue our journey on the Edinburgh Trams system as its time for another edition of “Stop by Stop”.
As we leave the stop at Edinburgh Park Central we travel through the attractive surroundings of the business park with Loch Ross to the left and several large office complexes. We then come up to the only major interaction with traffic outside the city centre on the original network. It is traffic signalled but that hasn’t stopped there being collisions here in the past as we cross South Gyle Broadway just before arriving at Gyle Centre.
It’s the standard platform either side of the tracks layout here with all the usual things on the platforms we are used to – shelters, seating, information, ticket machines, validators etc. The stop here is down below the road surface so there are steps and ramps on one side of the stop, whilst the other provides level access to the Gyle Centre, a shopping complex.

The traditional view of a tram at the platform features in this image of 277 at Gyle Centre. Its just departing from the Airport bound platform in this photo with a small number of passengers having alighted and now waiting for it to go so they can cross over and head to the shopping centre. The wall and fencing on the left shows how we are lower than the road here.

Then we see 269 (one of the many advertising Emirates at this time) arriving with a service from the Airport to Newhaven (who knows some on board may even have stepped off an Emirates plane and gone straight to the tram?!). The track behind the tram is grassed to add to the green credentials. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior, 27th June 2025)
