In Pictures: Edinburgh Trams 256 gets a new wrap

Often when we talk about new adverts on Edinburgh Trams we discuss how it’s the trams eighth, ninth, tenth different design, but not this time as there is a tram which has received just its second ever advert! The tram is 256 which has lost adverts for C R Smith in favour of a wrap for National Museum of Scotland.

The last time that 256 didn’t have an association with C R Smith was May 2018, which was the month that it first received the adverts for the window company. At the time it was the nineteenth tram to advertise C R Smith (it would be the penultimate new advert with just 265 to follow the next month) and was the first not to use the “From… To…” campaign. Whilst other trams have lost their adverts for the firm 256 had clung on, until July 2025 that was!

The tram is now carrying a full wrap for National Museum of Scotland. It features a light blue base with the third and fifth sections of the tram, as usual, having full height adverts and unsurprisingly showcasing some of what the museum has to offer.

With this advert change is means we are now down to just the five trams with CR Smith adverts: 252, 253, 259, 265 and 266.

And 256 isn’t the only advert change, although for 275 its been barely a month rather than seven years! 275 had been advertising Philadelphia in a full wrap since June 2025 but by 25th July 2025 that had been stripped and the tram is now carrying a partial design for Edinburgh Gin.
