Children can explore new Metro train once more this summer!

Children will once again be able to explore a scale model of one of the new Tyne and Wear Metro trains as it returns to the Tiny Toon pop-up play village at Old Eldon Square in the centre of Newcastle.

The play village will feature a number of local landmarks for families to explore and enjoy over the summer holidays and will open from Monday 21st July and be available until the end of the school summer holidays between 1000 and 1700 (1630 on Sundays).

The model Metro is a child sized version of the new Stadler train and will even have its own platform and Metro station cube.

Sarah McCourt, Head of Communications and Marketing at Nexus, said: “We’re thrilled to be headline partners for NE1’s Tiny Toon activation again this summer. This aligns with our ‘kids go free’ permanent price promise, helping families access the city and now enjoy free play at the miniature village.

“The miniature Metro train is a highlight of the play space. It is designed to resemble our new fleet, which we are excited to be rolling out as part of a £362m investment to transform the region’s transport system. We hope families take full advantage of free kids’ Metro travel and have a great time in the city this summer.”
