In Pictures: Seeing double in Manchester as 3038 advertises Soccer Aid

Its not that unusual for the same company/event to advertise on more than one tram, but usually the multiple ads come at around the same time, but not in the case of Soccer Aid and Manchester Metrolink they’re not! Some five weeks since 3031 received the first advert, 3038 has now received another wrap for the same event in an identical style.

3031 was first seen in its Soccer Aid advert on 17th March 2025 with 3038 noted during the week of 21st April 2025. The advert is exactly the same with the only difference between the two being the fact that one as a 1 at the end of its fleet number and the other an 8!

These vinyls mark the first time that 3038 has had an external advertising contract. Its only previous times out of fleet livery were two designs for Get On Board, a TfGM campaign encouraging people to use public transport in the region. These were carried March 2023-March 2024 and March 2024-December 2024.

3038 (running with 3036) is seen with its new vinyls at Market Street with a service to Altrincham.

An aerial shot of 3038 and 3036 as they run along High Street heading to Market Street and then onto Altrincham. Whilst it doesn’t show a great deal of the advert it does have the advantage of showing the completed trackworks here, which were completed on time to allow normal services to resume on Thursday 24th April 2025.
