James Hammett, UKTram Managing Director, has praised the vision on show at the recent Interchange 25 event in Manchester which gave an insight into the ability of intelligent transport system infrastructure to benefit society, the economy, and the environment.
UKTram was one of the official supporters of the event which helped to highlight the opportunities for light rail as part of the integrated transport networks of the future. Interchange 25 is now in its third year and is the only large-scale event of its kind in the UK focussed on integrated transport infrastructure.
James commented: “It also provided the ideal opportunity to strengthen our relationships with colleagues from the wider transport sector as it brought together key figures from a wide range of public and private sector organisations.
“At the same time, we were able to share ideas and look at solutions to challenges faced by all modes of public transport, with speakers covering a broad spectrum of topics, including decarbonisation and building climate resilient networks.
“The vision shared by a panel featuring the Mayors of Manchester and West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and the East Midlands was particularly interesting as they recognised the value of tramways and similar transit when it comes to improving connectivity, attracting investment and improving the environment.”
