Around the World in Trams: Frankfurt 003

We continue with “Around the World in Trams” from Frankfurt, Germany.

The oldest trams to be in regular service in Frankfurt am Main are the Duewag built “R” class. This fleet of 20 trams were built in 1993-4 and are three-section double-ended low floor vehicles. 18 remain in service in 2025 with the only missing trams being those which suffered accident damage.

This image is of 003 which is seen approaching the camera when working a service on line 11 towards Hochst Zuckschwerdtrasse. This line runs between Hochst Zuckschwerdtrasse and Fechenheim Schiesshuttenstrasse.
