Out and About: Edinburgh Trams – over the water

We go back to Edinburgh again for this latest “Out and About”.

This stunning photo shows 254 (which had adverts for Famous Grouse Spirit of Rugby) passing over the Water of Leith in the west of the city between Murrayfield and Balgreen. The tram is running on a viaduct which was built adjacent to the bridge carrying the Edinburgh & Glasgow Railway over the river. The river itself rises in the Pentland Hills and is about 20 miles long. It passes through the city from south west to north east and enters the sea through Leith Docks. The Water of Leith walkway follows it for about 12 miles from Balerno to Leith. (Photograph by Roy Calderwood, 30th May 2024)
