West Midlands Metro celebrate more Global Light Rail Awards success

The West Midlands Metro have been celebrating following more recognition at October’s Global Light Rail Awards, held in London. Their recent increases in service frequency and improved reliability led to the judges recognising their efforts with commendations.

West Midlands Metro were highly commended in both the Most Improved System and UK Operator of the Year categories.

Meanwhile, further recognition came in respect of two Metro team members. Conor Moon was a runner-up in the Rising Star category whilst Carl Brazier was also a runner-up, this time in the Employee of the Year category.

Carl is a former Royal Navy member who joined just a year ago and has become an integral part of Signalling and Communications Team. Conor is a Project Engineer and has managed a mix of complex infrastructure upgrades with great success.

Sophie Allison, Metro Managing Director, said: “While we narrowly missed out on first place in these competitive categories, the entire Metro team should be proud of their hard work over a year in which service frequency increased to every eight minutes, thanks to major infrastructure improvements. Congratulations to Carl and Conor for their well-deserved recognition, as well.”
