Out and About: West Midlands Metro – December 2023

In this instalment of our photographic series “Out and About” we are off to the West Midlands Metro in early December 2023.

A large number of the Urbos3 trams have now gone through the repair work to sort out the issues of the bodyside cracks which were discovered for the first time in 2021. 33 is one of the more recent examples to have returned from Dudley and after commissioning it was back in service in early December 2023. Its seen here at Loxdale with a service to Edgbaston Village.

The nice grassed track at Edgbaston Village ended up nothing of the sort after heavy rain and car incursions ploughed it up. 48 waits at the stop for departure to Wolverhampton Railway Station with the great mud pie of Edgbaston in front. Note the car in the distance which had taken a bit of a wrong turn.

Another photo at Edgbaston Village. This time it depicts Urbos100 41 which sits at the stop ahead of a return trip to Wolverhampton Railway Station (although the destination is yet to be changed). Beyond the tram there is work which would see flower beds installed between the tram platform and road. (All Photographs by Andy Walters, December 2023)

  1. Geoff, IoM says:

I suppose that the idiot motorists will drive over the flower beds as well, once they’re installed.
