Trams &: Newcastle 114 & bus

Its time for another edition of “Trams &” and once more its Beamish that we find ourselves at to feature a tram along with one of their resident buses.

The tram probably needs very little introduction. Its Newcastle 114 which has now been part of the operating fleet at Beamish since 1996. Built in 1901 it originally ran in Newcastle until being sold on to Sheffield in 1941. Running as 317 until 1951 final withdrawal came and sold on for further use it was later discovered and made its way to Beamish in 1987.

Joining 114 here is Crosville bus 716 which has been restored at Beamish to become an accessible bus. The single-decker has a wheelchair lift fitted and is on call for anyone who needs it when visiting the museum. It has been running since 2021 after a seven year restoration.

The two are seen in this picture at Foulbridge.
