Out and About: A brief stop at Hollinsend – July 2023

Its time to get “Out and About” again as we look at some (fairly) recent photos on a UK tramway. This time out its back to Sheffield with a brief stop to Hollinsend on the Blue and Purple routes.

Located on the central reservation on the A6102 Ridgeway Road the stop at Hollinsend is served by trams running on both the Blue route between Halfway and Malin Bridge and the Purple route between Herdings Park and Cathedral. 124 was on the Blue route when seen departing from the stop heading to Halfway.

125 arrives on its way to Halfway with 123 in the opposite platform as it waits to depart on the way to Malin Bridge.

With the Purple route now running hourly, it just requires one tram to shuttle between Cathedral and Herdings Park. On this visit it was 399 207 which was that tram and we see it arriving heading to Cathedral.

Taken from across the other side of Ridgeway Road we see 113 departing from Hollinsend in a fortunate lull in other traffic. (All Photographs by Stuart Cooke, 11th July 2023)
