Picture in Time: Croydon Tramlink construction

“Picture in Time” continues in Croydon this week with another image taken during the initial construction of Tramlink in the late 1990s.

This photo is again taken in May 1998 and this time we move closer towards the centre of Croydon as we are at Reeves Corner. The first section of on-street works in the town centre were around Reeves Corner and in this view we are looking towards the location of the single track Reeves Corner tramstop. The trackbed is being installed with the alignment from Wandle Park coming in from the far left hand side. We’re looking down from the Roman Way flyover.
