Today’s “Out and About” goes all heritage tram as we’re off to the Heaton Park Tramway in Manchester!
This visit on 23rd April saw Blackpool 619 in service (having only recently returned to action following overhaul and a repaint) but Hull 96 was also out of the depots posing on the siding at Middleton Road.
The chance was taken to have a look around Lakeside Depot where one of the residents was Blackpool 623 – operational but not needed on this visit.
Stored at Lakeside is also Blackpool 702.
And other stored tram in Lakeside Depot is Manchester 173. Previously displayed at the Greater Manchester Museum of Transport it is cosmetically restored but needs overhaul before it can be used in service. (All Photographs by Ken Jones, 23rd April 2023)
