Discounted Metro travel available for Birmingham Pride

Anyone attending Pride events in Birmingham on 27th and 28th May will be able to get discounted travel on the West Midlands Metro. All zone fares will be reduced by 20% when purchased through the Birmingham Pride website.

Vicki Bennett, West Midlands Metro Customer Service Manager, said: “Over the weekend roads around the city will be particularly busy, and parking will be in short supply, so it makes perfect sense to take the tram instead of driving. All the main venues are within easy walking distance of our stops and, as an added bonus Pride ticketholders can make great savings on their travel.”

The discounted tickets will only be redeemable on the MyMetro app with discount codes having been sent to ticketholders by official ticket sellers Birmingham Pride.

Discrimination against anyone not attending pride events.

    • Steve Hyde says:

It sounds as though the discount is being subsidised by Birmingham Pride and if so there is no discrimination involved as those people recieving codes will be ticket holders. You could always buy a ticket to the event if you want the travel discount.

I suppose giving OAPs a travel pass discriminates against young people? Blackpool only allowing local free travel on trams discriminates against non locals? Not allowing Lions on trams discriminates against Lion owners. You know there’s a whole host of discounts available on all transport but I bet you’ve only chosen Pride to complain about……….
