Edinburgh Trams shortlisted for awards

Edinburgh Trams are celebrating after they were nominated for a number of awards at the forthcoming Scottish Transport Awards. This includes the prestigious Operator of the Year category where they will be competing against other top transport operators in the country.

As well as the Operator of the Year category they have also been nominated in the Technology and Innovation category for the introduction of their state of the art simulator which has allowed drivers to familirarise themselves with the Trams to Newhaven extension ahead of getting behind the controls of a tram in real life.

The value for money “Day Tripper” deal and a ticket app have seen the operator nominated in the Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing Award category whilst the implementation of an ambitious  carbon emission reduction plan has been recognised with a nomination in the Contribution to Sustainable Transport category.

Lea Harrison, Edinburgh Trams Managing Director, said: “To be shortlisted across so many categories just shows how committed we are to delivering ‘excellence’ for Edinburgh as we prepare for an exciting new chapter in the history of the network. This represents another major vote of confidence in the team as we get closer to launching services to Leith, Ocean Terminal, and Newhaven, and is a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.”

The Scottish Transport Awards will be handed out at a ceremony on 22nd June 2023 which takes place at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Glasgow. The ceremony is supported by the Scottish Government, Transport Scotland, Network Rail and The Railway Industry Association.
