Metrolink Park and Ride facilities to be increased

The car parks at Radcliffe and Whitefield Metrolink stops are to be enlarged following the approval of planning applications by Bury Council. Both car parks will have an extra deck added with work expected to start in 2014.

Cllr Andrew Fender, Chair of the TfGM Committee, said: “The parking facilities at Radcliffe and Whitefield are starting to reach their maximum capacity. That’s why Metrolink is expanding the car parks at both sites, which are provided free of charge to passengers, so I’m delighted that we’ve secured planning permission and can now press on.”

The number of parking spaces at Radcliffe will increase from 250 to 364 and the number of spaces at Whitefield from 127 to 210, representing an increase of 52%.
