Stop by Stop Nottingham Express Transit: Hucknall & Phoenix Park – Highbury Vale (Hucknall)

We carry on with our journey towards Hucknall in this edition of “Stop by Stop” and the next stop will be Highbury Vale.

Our tram has departed from David Lane and continues alongside the Robin Hood railway line with the River Leen also returning on the left of the tram in the direction of travel. Shortly before we reach Highbury Vale there is a junction where the Hucknall and Phoenix Park lines diverge. We’ll be heading to Phoenix Park a little bit later in this series but for now we’re off to Hucknall and see the Phoenix Park line branch off to the left. We then arrive at the Hucknall line version of Highbury Vale tramstop which is an island platform. There is a ticket machine, passenger information displays letting you know when the next tram is, a shelter, information panels, bin and lighting – pretty much as every other stop has provided us!

The tramstop is surrounded by greenery including some bushes as we see in this view of 230. Trying to camouflage itself the tram is waiting at the stop with a service heading off to Hucknall.

Standing on the platform and here we see 235 which has just departed from the citybound platform with a service to Toton Lane. The branch to Phoenix Park is seen on the right of the shot. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior, 19th September 2021)
