Crich Photo line-ups: Future Workshop programme – 2021

We have a relatively recent Crich Photo line-up for you today as we only head back to 2021 for one of three line-ups which took place.

Again, the line-ups were part of Tram Day which in 2021 took place on 18th September 2021. There were three separate line-ups on the day, one which looked at current workshop projects, one at the winter workshop programme and then one which was interested in future workshop projects – and its that last one which we feature here. This line-up featured only two trams but one of them was in two bits so it appears to be three! The future project being featured was the restoration of Blackpool 298 and with the new underframe having been delivered for the tram it too was included. To add to the line-up the two bits of 298 were joined by fellow Blackpool Brush Car 630.

This photo looking towards the workshop and depots shows 630 on the left – currently operational and probably looking forward to seeing its sister join it in a few years time. Next to 630 is 298 (or the shell of) and then on the right is the newly constructed underframe for 298.

From the side we see the same three items on display. Since this line-up things in the restoration of 298 have moved on with much of the body now dismantled in preparation for work to get underway in earnest. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior)
