West Midlands Metro operates a more frequent timetable

Article updated 15th December with details of weekend services.

Monday 12th December was a significant day for the West Midlands Metro as a new timetable was introduced which means a more frequent service is now running on the network. From early mornings until mid-evening Monday to Friday trams are now running every 10 minutes instead of the previous 12 minutes.

It may be only a slight difference but the increase in frequency does mark another step towards normality on the West Midlands Metro with it being the highest frequency since trams returned in June after their layoff caused by the bodyside panel issues in March 2022.

The new timetable is available on the West Midlands Metro website at https://westmidlandsmetro.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/WSG-EDG-Mon-Sun-July-2022.pdf?utm_source=Website&utm_medium=PDF&utm_campaign=Timetable – and includes details of services seven days a week.

Weekdays first trams from both Edgbaston Village and Wolverhampton St George’s will be at 0515 with earlier departures from Wednesbury Parkway to Edgbaston Village from 0428 and from Wednesbury Parkway to Wolverhampton St George’s from 0456. The ten minute frequency gets underway straightaway and carries on until 1915 after which it reduces to every 15 minutes until the end of service. Final full length trams are at 2330 with the final departures to Wednesbury Parkway at 0030 from both ends of the line.

Saturdays sees services start of the same time but its a 12 minute frequency throughout the day with a later finish time. Last full length trams at 0000 and departures at 0100 from both Edgbaston Village and Wolverhampton St George’s to Wednesbury Parkway.

Then on Sundays its again a 12 minute frequency but with first trams not until 0800 from each end (Wednesbury Parkway first departures are 0713 for Edgbaston Village and 0741 for Wolverhampton St George’s). The final tram of the day is half an hour earlier than weekdays too with full length journeys at 2300 and part journeys back to Wednesbury Parkaway 0000.

This is part of the Metro’s recent announcement of a step-up in services to allow passengers to make the most of seasonal celebrations taking place around the network.
