During early December there has been some general track maintenance taking place on the Stagecoach Supertram network with the hire of a tamper to assist with this work. The Volker Rail tamper has been seen at both Halfway and Meadowhall Interchange, although is not believed to have run all the way by rail. Photos of the tamper from Jim Smythe.
The very end of the Blue route at Halfway was the home of the tamper with it being surrounded by fencing. The fairly unusual sight is captured here on 5th December 2022.
The other side of the tamper seen stabled at Halfway again. This particular tamper – carrying the number TSB 51022 – is no stranger to Supertram metals having previously visited in March 2021. (Both Photographs by Jim Smythe, 5th December 2022)
