In Pictures: Sign of the times in Edinburgh

Work on extending the Edinburgh Trams system has been going on since November 2019 and now as it enters its final stages (trams running from the spring!) some of the finishing cosmetic touches are being applied. This has included the installation of signs on each of the stops and in this article we take a look at that signage which is in the standard Edinburgh Trams style.

With the stop at Picardy Place still barriered off we start off with the second new stop on the line at McDonald Road. The signage tells us that this is the platform for trams heading towards Ocean Terminal and Newhaven.

Next up comes Balfour Street. This is the sign of the side where trams will be heading onto the original line.

Foot of the Walk where the sign is attached to a wall.

This is The Shore.

We now reach Port of Leith.

Nearly there as we reach the penultimate stop at Ocean Terminal.

End of the line! The sign at Newhaven with all trams from here heading back to the city centre. (All Photographs by Roy Calderwood)
