15 Years Apart: Seaton Tramway 8

Its time for another edition of the then and now series “15 Years Apart” and this time we downsize as we head to the 2’9” gauge tramway in Seaton Devon to catch a glimpse of a tram in 2007 and also in 2022. The tram we look at is numbered 8.

On 27th October 2007 the first photo of 8 is taken at Colyton where the tram is at the end of the line when running as a Service Extra during the End of Season Gala. As can be seen at this time 8 was the “pink tram” (the original tram to carry this colour scheme) with not much escaping the pink paintbrush! (Photograph by Gareth Prior)

15 years later (almost) and we find 8 again at the Seaton Tramway on 26th August 2022. It has now received a pleasing repaint into a Bristol blue and white livery having been replaced as the “pink tram” by the larger capacity 11. The tram is just calling at the new Riverside Halt which had only opened a few weeks previous to this image. (Photograph by David Mee)
