15 Years Apart: Croydon/London Tramlink 2537

Back for another December outing this year is “15 Years Apart” where we take a look at two pictures of trams – one in 2007 and the other in 2022. And this year’s series starts with images from the Croydon/London Tramlink system.

The difference between the original Bombardier CR4000 trams from 2007 to 2022 is clear to even the most casual observer – they have had a major change of livery! This first image is taken at Wandle Park on 13th September 2007 and shows 2537 which is running a service from Wimbledon to New Addington. The tram is in the original red and white fleet livery and by this time had received an electronic destination display instead of the original roller blinds fitted when new.

We now move forward 15 years to 25th March 2022 with 2537 now in the current fleet livery of green, white and blue. Its again working to New Addington in this image but with a change in service pattern it will have started back in central Croydon rather than Wimbledon. The tram is on Kent Gate Way on the approach to Addington Village. (Both Photographs by Gareth Prior)
