Light Rail Strategy nominated for Light Rail Award

Earlier this year UK Tram published a new Light Rail Strategy document which looked at securing a sustainable future for light rail in the UK. And now that strategy is up for an award as it has been nominated in the Vision of the Year category at the Global Light Rail Awards.

James Hammett, Managing Director of UKTram, said: “We’re delighted that the strategy has caught the eye of award judges and to be shortlisted for an award at such a prestigious event will surely raise the profile of this landmark piece of work. Its publication followed many months of work by professionals from across light rail, and engagement with the Department for Transport, to brings into focus the many benefits of putting tramways at the heart of future integrated urban transport to enhance connectivity, drive inward investment, reduce congestion and improve air quality.”

The strategy drew on expertise from across the sector and seeks to build a compelling argument for government investment in tramways and similar transit systems.
