New look for West Midlands Metro website

Regular users of the West Midlands Metro website at http://www.westmidlandsmetro.com will have noticed that in recent weeks it has something of a revamp which has the aim of offering easier access to the latest information on both tram services and the tickets you need to travel on them.

Elizabeth Cole, Marketing and Communications Manager for West Midlands Metro, said: “The opening of the extension has provided the ideal opportunity to revamp the website which is now even more user-friendly. It has also been streamlined to improve navigation and performance across all types of mobile and smart devices, so it’s easier for customers to access the latest information while on the go.”

The new look website is said to improve the customer experience by making it easier to navigate a range of useful features. This includes regular service updates, tram times as well as updated route maps after the opening of the extension to Edgbaston Village.

Behind the scenes there have also been changes too to improve performance and boost search engine optimisation.

The new Metro website is very clear and professional and it is obvious that staff enjoy working there, not only from the videos, but travelling on the trams themselves.
The video showing Metro operating in and around the area is good but, clearly, very old and, had I not been a transport professional and enthusiast who knows about the livery change some years ago, I would be left wondering who runs the pink and grey trams when all I see around the patch is blue trams?
It will need to be updated as soon as the repaired CAF Urbos 3 trams have been restored to full blue livery and should, maybe, show a little of 2what we have achieved” with trams at Edgbaston, Broad Street and Wolverhampton railway station.
Having done some, hopefully, constructive criticism, it would be unfair not to praise the amount of work that has gone into the new website to make it a lot easier to travel by tram, and to make the point that trams are just a part of a joined-up integrated network in the West Midlands.
The people of West Midlands Metro are, truly, lovely professional people and should be highly commended for that. More of them should be receiving awards!
