Bury line to close for a week in August

There will be more engineering works on Manchester Metrolink during August with no trams running through to Bury between Saturday 13th and Friday 19th August. The work will take place in two phases and will see both new rails laid and a new power sub-station installed.

Saturday 13th to Tuesday 16th August

  • No trams between Bury and Whitefield
  • A replacement bus service runs Whitefield to Bury
  • Trams will run Whitefield to Piccadilly and a peak-time service from Altrincham to Crumpsall
  • Approximately 4,000 metres of inbound and outbound track will be replaced between Radcliffe and Bury

Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th August

  • No trams between Bury and Queens Road
  • A replacement bus service runs between Queens Road and Bury
  • Trams will run Queens Road to Piccadilly and a peak-time service from Queens Road to Altrincham

During this closure approximately 4,400 metres of inbound and outbound track will be replaced between Radcliffe and Bury. There will also be a new power sub-station  constricted at Heaton Park which will help to provide more power to additional trams on the Bury line.

Normal services should resume from the start of service on Saturday 20th August.
