Performance increases again on NET

With the next meeting of the Greater Nottingham Light Rail Transit Authority just around the corner the latest operational report on Nottingham Express Transit has been released and there is new information contained within as performance has increased since the last report four months ago.

Covering the period from the start of February to the end of May, reliability is now recorded at 96.1% and punctuality at 93.9%. The last report saw these figures at 92.3% and 90.4% respectively (whilst going back one further report and they were at 94.4% and 93.3%). This obviously means that both reliability and punctuality are currently running at their highest level for over half a year. Reason enough to be positive about things!

Whilst it’s a mainly positive picture, there have been a few incidents which have led to delays in the service:

  • 3rd February – tram communications fault led to the entire service being withdrawn whilst the issue was resolved. This is in line with normal safety procedures
  • 21st February – road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on approach to David Lane tramstop. The pedestrian received attention for minor injuries at the scene.
  • 24th February – Temporary suspension of services after police closed the road close to Lace Market tramstop following reports of someone on the roof of Fletcher Gate car park.
  • Incidents involving anti-social behaviour by school children on the tracks in the Clifton area and at Meadow Embankment
  • Collision with a pedestrian at Nottingham Station resulting in minor injuries for the pedestrian
  • 30th May – tram services were suspended in the Old Market Square for a period to allow the Nottingham Forest celebrations after their promotion to the Premier League
