Out and About: More shots of new trams on the West Midlands Metro

This new edition of “Out and About” is heading back to the West Midlands Metro as we take another look at one of the new Urbos 100 trams in service.

When these photos were taken it had been almost exactly five months since passenger trams had run any further than Bull Street into Birmingham City Centre with first track replacement works and then the complete withdrawal of all trams after the discovery of cracks. In this first photo we see one of the new Urbos 100 trams at the aforementioned Bull Street before it returns north to Wolverhampton St George’s. The tram is no. 40.

On board 40 as it comes off the grassed section of track at Snow Hill in Birmingham City Centre. This view shows the cab control desk. (Both Photographs by Andy Walters, 24th December 2021)
