Stop by Stop Blackpool Tramway: Sandhurst Avenue

In this article we continue our way along the Blackpool Tramway with “Stop by Stop” now arriving at Sandhurst Avenue.

When we depart north from Bispham we come to the three track layout here to allow trams to take a break out the way of others. The likelihood is that your tram will take the outer left hand track in the direction of travel closest to the wall upon which can now be found a toilet block and children’s playground but was once home to a Crazy Golf course. Nowadays you may also find plenty of tram enthusiasts up there as well taking photos of the trams! With the tram heading north we soon arrive at Sandhurst Avenue. The stop is of the standard Blackpool Tramway design: platforms either side of the tracks with shelters on both sides, information panels, stop sign and lighting columns.

A view of the stop with the Irish Sea in the background. This is looking north.

001 has just arrived at Sandhurst Avenue with a service to Starr Gate.

Here we see 011 departing from the northbound stop on its way to Fleetwood Ferry, (All Photographs by Gareth Prior, 25th September 2020)
