New adverts on Metrolink and Tramlink

This article has been updated with the addition of a photo of Tramlink 2531.

There have been another couple of vinyl adverts applied on trams in the UK – with Manchester Metrolink seeing another design added to 3064 while a rarer event is on London Tramlink where 2531 has received the first new advert there since January 2015.

Starting off up in Manchester and 3064 is now advertising union USDAW. With the tram ends remaining in fleet livery, as is normal, the colour scheme of the advert is mainly purple with writing on some windows while other windows have full vinyl coverage. This is the first advert on 3064 which is the 43rd different M5000 to have an all over advert applied.

Meanwhile, and not previously reported, is that London Tramlink 2531 had a new all over advert applied back at the start of July. With a pink background the advert is for Taylor Rose MW, a firm of solicitors.

This is not the first advert for 2531 as it previously advertised Addington Palace from January 2000 and then McMillan Williams solicitors between September 2014 and November 2015. Of note is that Taylor Rose MW was formed in 2020 after Taylor Rose TTKW acquired McMillan Williams so this is in fact a return of advertiser to 2531.

Adverts on Tramlink have been few and far between recently with just the Love Croydon design on 2554 having been seen since the end of 2016/start of 2017 when 2537 lost vinyls for Turkish Airlines.
